A six week online mindfulness journey for purpose-driven leaders

Thanks so much for your interest in this transformative program. I’m excited to launch another round of this journey.

We live in a complex, changing world. The evolving demographic and social landscape, the climate crisis, and rapid advancements in technology are adding layers of complexity beyond what humans have traditionally faced. These factors come together to create an unprecedented challenge for leaders.

Leading effectively through these times invites a shift of both heart and mind

Traditional leadership development programs have focused on competencies and tools that can be observed at the surface-level. While offering incremental improvements, they aren’t designed to cultivate the inner resourcefulness needed to thrive in today’s leadership landscape.

This unique program offers something deeper

It will empower you to slow down and tune into the feelings and beliefs that sit below the surface. You’ll gain access to greater awareness and choice as the lens through which you view the world, and yourself, becomes more clear. And you’ll draw upon that renewed clarity to guide your way forward.

Like most leaders, I find there is never enough time in the day and I am pulled in many directions. Being grounded and reflective are essential skills to being an effective leader. As a continuous learner I participated in Calm in the Storm. The course was expertly facilitated by Rebecca. Not only did I learn some new skills, I also had the chance to learn from others. I would definitely recommend this course. The ROI is well worth it.

Mindfulness as a growth catalyst

The challenges of our time call for Creative Leadership - leadership from the inside-out. Looking within requires slowing down, seeing ourselves clearly, tuning into the body and quieting the mind - all of which are supported through mindfulness.

Research by Leadership Circle suggests 70-80% of leaders are operating predominantly from reactive states. Reactive Leadership is defined by past conditioning which limits agility and responsiveness to changing circumstances. This style of leadership is not conducive to thriving in our changing world.

Mindfulness serves as a powerful amplifier for leadership development through the cultivation of awareness, presence and compassion. Together, these inner resources equip a leader to evolve their approach to better meet the growing complexity of our world. By promoting stillness and clarity, mindfulness practices create the conditions from which Creative Leadership can emerge and grow.

Program Overview

This program will catalyze your developmental journey by promoting deepened awareness and enhanced compassion. You’ll be introduced to daily practices that will support you in raising your level of awareness and thriving amidst growing complexity. In this 6-week introductory mindfulness journey, you’ll learn the basics of mindfulness meditation and how it can help you find stillness and clarity, in your life and leadership. Together with a small group of like-minded leaders, you will learn how to direct your attention in a deliberate manner to focus on the present experience of your body, mind, and emotions. Through these practices, you will gain tremendous insight into the beliefs and values that drive your leadership and will gain clarity on your opportunities for growth. You will walk away with practical tools to maintain a sustainable and nourishing mindfulness meditation practice of your own, even if you’ve traditionally found stillness challenging.

Rebecca has helped me tremendously. With a focus on conscious leadership, I am a better leader, a better father, a better husband, and a better person. I’ve learned to slow down, to stop blaming, and have leaned into self-compassion. I’m learning to quiet that noise inside my head that never used to stop. My self awareness has improved greatly, and I feel physically and mentally better than I have in a long time.

Meet Rebecca

Rebecca Wilson is an ICF certified coach, mindfulness teacher, and experienced senior leader.

Rebecca spent much of her life identifying as a high achiever (who desperately wanted to do good in the world). At some point along the path of striving for more outward impact, she realized she’d lost connection with herself. Her path of self-discovery led her to experience the profound effects of mindfulness.

Along this journey, Rebecca continued to thrive professionally, moving into senior leadership positions in the management consulting and not-for-profit sectors. All the while, she was diving deep into wisdom traditions and personal development, eventually training as a certified coach, meditation and yoga teacher. As she observed changes within herself and her clients, she began witnessing the transformative impact of inner work on leadership effectiveness.

Rebecca founded Arborvida to help high achieving, purpose-driven leaders deepen their presence and elevate their impact. She’s married her unique experience, qualifications and passion to create a truly transformative offering.

I can say without hyperbole that working with Rebecca has been life shifting. Rebecca has supported me in my career aspirations, in my daily life and with my family. I now take time to focus on little things and have more appreciation and gratification from daily tasks.

 Frequently Asked Questions

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing. The practice of mindfulness is an ancient technique that can be traced back to various traditions including Hinduism and Buddhism. In our busy, modern times, there are many secular applications of mindfulness which can be practiced by anyone, in any setting, to great benefit.

Research has shown that mindfulness practices are effective in raising self-awareness, eliciting a relaxation response, improving energy levels and reducing pain, among other benefits.

Mindfulness practices include meditation, as well as mindful movement and anything else that involves consciously bringing attention to the present moment. This 6 week program will introduce many seated meditative practices, while also exploring other pathways into mindful presence, including gentle movement.

Will this program benefit me if I already meditate?

This is an introductory program that is appropriate for individuals who do not have an existing, regular meditation practice. If you have some meditation experience but have never taken structured training, this program will allow you to explore different approaches and benefit from tailored guidance that can support you in re-invigorating your practice and bringing it into your leadership.

How can mindfulness improve my leadership?

There are many facets of leadership development. Acquiring new skills and tools can be helpful and necessary, but transformational leadership potential is unleashed only when a leader grows as a human.

The demonstrated impacts of mindfulness on self-awareness and reductions in reactivity point to a big opportunity in the leadership development space - when research by Leadership Circle suggests 70-80% are operating predominantly from Reactive States. Because with greater awareness comes choice. And with choice, we can shift out of Reactivity.
